How common is PCOS?

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a health problem that affects 1 in 10 women of childbearing age.

Does Covid 19 affect pregnancy?

More research is needed to understand the effects of Covid-19 on pregnancy. Although a few cases suggest that Covid-19 may have been passed to the fetus during pregnancy, this appears to be rare. After birth a newborn can get the virus if they are exposed to it.

What is BV?

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by overgrowth of the bacteria that occur naturally in the vagina. The main symptom is of an increased discharge with fishy odor, but some will also experience irritation.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis occurs in about 1 in 10 women of childbearing age. The most common symptom of endometriosis is chronic pelvic pain, and pain during sex. Exam may lend clues to the diagnosis, but most commonly endometriosis is diagnosed by laparoscopy.

What are uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids are benign growths of the muscle tissue of the uterus. A woman may have only one fibroid or many of various sizes. Fibroids May cause changes in menstruation, pelvic pain or pressure, enlarged uterus, infertility, and miscarriages. Many fibroids are without any symptoms.

How common is nausea and vomiting during pregnancy?

Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy is a common condition. It can occur at any time of the day. For most women it goes away by 14 weeks. For a few women it lasts throughout the pregnancy. Hyperemesis gravidarum is a term for the most severe form of the condition, and affects 3% of pregnancies.
